STICKY POST

Jan-van-Gent

, , , ...

Photographed this one yesterday.
The background effect has been generated through a combination of a slow shutter speed and a blurring through a relative big aperture. It is water in essence.
Touch up through postprocessing in Photoshop CS2; resize, adjustment layers(levels, contrast, saturation), highlights/shadows, selective USM sharpening and selective Gaussian blurring background with feathering.
Weather conditions at the time were quite unpredictable. Rainy, sunny, cloudy and so forth.

More info about the species here
Thanks....

Captured a frog...

Marsh frog

wiki
The Marsh Frog is a water-dwelling, generally green-colored frog species. It can reach a maximum length of 17 centimetres, but males remain smaller (around 12 cm). The head is proportionally large and the hind legs are long, which gives them excellent jumping abilities.

There is a large variation in colour and pattern, ranging from dark green to brown or grey, sometimes with some lighter green lines; a lighter line on the back is generally present. The Western European populations are generally dark green to black with dark spot on the back and sides and three clearly green lines on the back.

Photographed yesterday in De Gavers, Deerlijk, Belgium.

Friendly regards,
Annick

Rotate canvas arbitray

, , , ...

In Photoshop you can select the Measure tool and drag a line from the starting point to an ending point.
Afterwards you can edit this line.
For instance you can drag a measure line on an image feature that should be horizontal or vertical.
Afterwards: choose Image> Rotate Canvas> Arbitrary

For example

Color management

, , , ...

Today we're going to discuss color management.
The range of color viewable to the human eye can't be reproduced by a publishing device.
Each device operates within a specific color space; a certain range of colors or gamut can be generated.
A color model gives us the relationship between the values; the color space gives us the absolute meaning.
Some models have a fixed color space. For example LAB by virtue of relating directly to the way humans perceive colors. They are device-independent.
Whereas other models such as RGB, CMYK, HSL, HSB,...can have many different color spaces; device- dependent

Filter workshop or...Mr. Slocombe's pussy, the day after.

, , , ...

Today...I want to learn or train myself in applying a filter in Photoshop.
Follow me and you'll be a very successful photo editor;-)....
Besides if you've overcome Mrs. Slocombe's pussy...don't worry about this one.

Starting image:
This beautiful lionesse I captured this month.

The above image is resized and sharpened for this blog.
What we do is the following:
We open the image in Photoshop; to apply a filter we're going to the filter menu.
There we find several submenu commands such as Blur, Sharpen and so forth...
Select the artistic submenu..apply the default 'dark strokes' settings...
Here you are...

Many other filters can be applied also third-party filters; the latter are filters delivered by non-Adobe software developers.

Merry Christmas!

2007...coming!

Another 'added canvas' example...
This photograph is of a female white lion; I'll share it with you 'cause I find she has incredible eyes!!!
Once upon a time in a zoo I heard a mam saying to her little sun : "The animal males are more beautiful than the females". Definitely not true if you look at these inviting eyes...
Actually what she meant is the following: Concerning humans, the females are more beautiful than the males!
And that is okay of course! Not taking into account myself...of course;-)

Mrs. Slocombe's pussy: part 2...an in-depth session.

A bit more advanced...
Load the image in Photoshop...
Choose image>Canvas site.
Take the color picker and search for a matching color in the image.
I took a light color; otherwise the color could be distracting.
For the width take for example 3 cm.
For Anchor click the square so the added canvas goes to the right side using the foreground color mentioned above.
For Text ...use the text editor from the palette.
Here you are...

Please do not take into account the black parts...
Questions..feel free to ask?
