TJ gets baptized in the Amazon

,

Our most important ministry is to our kids. It's so rewarding to see them growing spiritually stronger. Tiago, or TJ, has been wanting to get baptized. After church at Puraquequara we hiked down to the Amazon River, and Tiago announced to the world that he believes! He's only five, but has such an amazing heart for Christ... to love Him, serve Him, and tell others about Him. We think that God has great plans for this big guy, and has already begun to prepare him. Go get em Teej! We love you man!!

Happy BDay Timmy!!

HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY to Tim today! It has been a wonderful 16 years with this amazing young man. Tim practices Free Running, which is like Le Parkour with style. He is constantly flipping, rolling, doing handstands, splits, and cartwheels. He is tireless. Loves to read. In fact, he scored a 98% in Reading on his ACT. He wants to be a writer after college. Right now, he studies at a Brazilian school in the afternoon. Good it's in the afternoon... he doesn't get home till 10:30 from Kung Fu. He's a yellow belt in Kung Fu, about to graduate to orange. At his school, he practices gymnastics. Next week his teacher is going to show him how to run up a wall and do a back flip. Tim is also a computer whiz, teaching us how to do things when we need help. His little bro and sis look up to him as a role model, and love to spend time with him.
Tim, we're proud of you man! You are such a blessing as a son. Happy Birthday Timmy!!

happy birthday gd!

long blog today...
today is a super special day for us! we are celebrating two years of ministry with guerreiros de deus!! when thomas saw ju-jitsu for the first time, he felt God telling him to start it in our church. like an overwhelming gotta-do-it thing. so he found a guy to give classes, and we started training a few nights a week along with tom and a coupla friends. it exploded! many guys gave their lives to Christ during the devotions. here is a pic of tom and janerdley right after they began teaching kids' classes.

when we left that church, shalom, to plant another, we took a coupla guys with us and started ju-jitsu classes during the week. they have also exploded. there are now 4 locations where guerreiros train. we've added kung fu, karate, and muay tai. we will soon have capoeira. all of the classes are free. and all of the classes have a quick devotion. guys are still coming to Christ through gd... two years later. there are 5 guys that have been with us from the beginning, and that thomas disciples. we call them the core. i wish i could take the time to tell you how awesome each one is. they are amazing guys with hearts on fire for God! here is a pic of thomas and tom with them, plus the two guys in the back left that jumped into the pic.

two of these guys, vasco and janderley, have been in our home this past week helping us paint. thomas's friend was actually heading up the project. he brought a guy with him, edilson, but wanted a couple more. so one day janderley asked me for an evangecube. he took it out to edilson and led him to the Lord. bam! like that. friday nights we have discipleship with the core, and edilson stayed for it last night... but just for the soccer that we play after! the soccer group is mostly christians. he loved playing with us and hanging out. thomas drove him home after... and he lives faaaaar away. so he was able to spend one-on-one time talking about making life changes. he's 20, and came to manaus with a brother to make money. he now lives with a 17 year old girlfriend and her mom. dude's going to have to make serious changes! he asked thomas if he could come to the bible study every week. uhhhh.... of course! please pray for edilson. and pray for the guerreiros de deus ministry. it's awesome how many lives have been and continue to be touched!!

so hungry in the middle of the street

there are almost always kids at the intersections who will wash your windshield for a few coins. last night we gave a kid, who was about 10, a tract along with some money. he walked a few steps away while reading, and then just stopped. right in the middle of the street. man! the people here are so willing and hungry to learn about Jesus! it's awesome to work in brazil.

kosy

join us in rejoicing! thomas's sister, kosy (in the pic with her two brothers), went to answer her cell and hit a parked car. she totaled her car, but her air bag went off and she walked away without being hurt. God is so good! we're thankful that she's okay, and that no one was in the other car. pray for her... she doesn't have a driver's license or insurance

outdoor plumbing...

when tiago started potty training, i wanted him to also be able to go xixi in the great outdoors. (you can figure it out:)). guess since there's not always a bathroom handy. maybe because tom and tim, when they were little *clears throat*, never ran in with muddy shoes or dripping wet from swimming... they would just get behind a tree. very convenient. tiago, on the other hand, spent the first year or so of potty training very shy. would only go in the bathroom with the door closed. with a little encouragement, that changed and he began to go outside now and then. yesterday i realized that maybe he took it to the extreme. we were about to head out the door, and i was in the bathroom fixing my hair and getting ready. "hey tj, go potty before we leave" he started walking out of the bathroom, so i called to him that he needed to obey. "i am mom... i'm going outside" :eyes:

beans beans

our pressure cooker blew up today. beans everywhere. black ones. tiago screamed his head off at the loud noise. poor little guy! how can we live without beans??? new pressure cooker coming soon!! hahaha :chef:
