My Wedding Plans

I got the ring, now what?

STICKY POST

Not just a wedding sight (sigh)

I realize now that this site is much more than what I had originally planned.
As the title implies, this was to be, and still is, my wedding site.

But, as I'm finding out, it's much more than that. I'm in the process of becoming Catholic. So essentially this site is growing wings of its own....and here I thought I was simply putting up a cutesy wedding site. HA!

wedding update

, , , ...

the last couple of months have been a whirlwind. my wedding is fast approaching. Over the christmas holiday, I made some SERIOUS headway.

I found my wedding gown (or did it find me)

I picked my colors
AND I chose the stlye of dress for my bridesmaids.

The reception hall was booked around October.....It is BY FAR the best spot in town. I'm gonna feel lke a princess. The rehearsal dinner was booked around the same time as the reception..

Dinner with mark's parents

dinner was fabulous. We ate at this trendy tapas eatery. Very chic.

What made it so exciting was the topic of discussion-MY WEDDING!

I have to admit I'm actually beginning to get excited about getting married (finally)

While mark and his dad talked "boring stuff" )technology, politics....etc. we were talking about potential venues for the reception and rehearsal dinner.

On the way home, I literally squeeled with delight.

This is what I wanted.

, , ,

I wanted a classy, elegant wedding. (That much will remain) However, I had also wanted to have my bridesmaids in black dresses. Wouldn't that have been pretty? (SIGH) But, alas, I've decided that black probably isn't the best choice for a summer wedding... (I know-major disappointment)

I'm on a search to find gorgeous color combinations.
maybe chocolate and cream.

only prequisite-it's got to be stunning.

I'm going to be a bride!

JUNE 22, 2007 is MY WEDDING DAY!!

Confirmation classes

, , , ...

In a few weeks my weekly confirmation classes will begin. I knew from Kara, Mark's sister, that I would need a sponser throughout this process. Naturally I just assumed that someone would be Mark.
I should have known that would be way to easy. When I was asked who was going to be my sponser, I told the nice lady at the Church that my fiance was going to do it.

She simply shook her head and told me that could not happen-it was vey much frowned upon.

Suddenly inspiration struck.

Without hesitating, I told her that his mother would be happy (my exact words were "ecstatic") to be my sponser. She gave a bit of a startled look and asked if I would like to call her and make certain. (my only thought was, "and give her a chance to say no?? I don't think so!) :D

**update**

I finally developed some courage and called the church last Wednesday. (Yes, COURAGE! I have this thing about talking on the phone....I hate it)
Luckily for me, he was out of the office, but I did talk to his secretary. Unsatisfied, I emailed him that night. Yesterday, I got an email back from his secretary....(I so prefer the email thing rather than the phone thing)

She gave me the number for the person who heads up the adult confirmation classes (is that what it's called?)

I made my first significant move toward being a catholic married woman when I actually drove myself to te church and met her. I filled out a simple form and that was it! Step 1 completed.

classes begin august 20, 2006 at 9:00am. They are every Sunday until Easter. My fiance can't be my sponser (i'm not sure what te sponser does, but i'm glad I won't be alone) So I nominated his mom. I don't think she was too thrilled that the classes start right after the 8:00 mass.......

As for the wedding hooplah....I actually bought a bridal magazine. Two of them

tomorrow

, , ,

I was raised Protestant. My fiance was raised Catholic. (Anyone see where this is going?)

Mark has 4 older sisters that each got married in the same Catholic Church.
(Oh, what is a girl to do?)

We HAVE to get married in a Catholic Church, no questions asked.

For the record, I think it's important that when two people get married they practice one common

religion. So, I am converting to Catholicism, which is why I need to contact the Priest tomorrow.

I need to take confirmation classes, and then, marriage classes.

The Proposal (part 2)

, ,

as I was saying, mark completely threw me off guard when he proposed during the appetizer. In one swift, fluid motion he pulled the box out of his jacket pocket and was bending down on one knee.

I couldn't have been more shocked if he had sat there and grew another head.

But, there he was on bended knee looking as nervous a boy on his first day of school. With trembling fingers, he opened the royal blue ring box.

I nearly gasped when I first laid eyes on the beautiful diamond solitaire.

I felt like my insides were about to come unglued.

I wanted to run around the restaurant showing my ring to anyone would look at it, or perhaps I would dance around the table, or maybe I would scream, or atleast cry like a baby.

All these things I wanted to do.....but all I could do was simply there smiling like cheshire cat and laughing like school girl.

The rest of the evening is a complete blur. I'm not even sure what I ate. I remember eating, of course, but right off-hand I can't tell you what that was.

The proposal (part 1)

, , ,

The date:December 19, 2005.
The place: Armani's
The occasion: Mark proposed

Mark was so nervous. He was anxious and practically giddy with anticipation. He told me were going to Armani's because I was leaving the next day for Tennessee.

Never heard of Armani's? Armani's is to Outback Steakhouse what stilettos are to fuzzy house slippers. It is the standard that all other restaurants must strive to attain.

We had a beautiful seat overlooking Tampa Bay. I can't overstate it enough-simply dining at Armani's is an event in itself, but my evening was about to become one of the happiest of my life.

I figured that if Mark was going to propose he would wait and do it after dinner...(that's when it's usually done, right) But, I was completely taken by surprise-he proposed during the appetizer.
